John Wilson, C. P.G.
Senior Hydrogeologist


Mr. Wilson has a total of 46 years of professional experience as a hydrogeologist and has earned Bachelors and Masters degrees in Geology with minors in Mathematics and Environmental Engineering. Degrees from Vanderbilt University. Mr. Wilson has been certified as a Certified Professional Geologist by the American Association of Professional Geologists, a Professional Hydrogeologist by the American Institute of Hydrology, and a Certified Ground Water Professional by the Association of Ground Water Scientists and Engineers. He has also received and maintained Professional Geologist registrations from Wyoming, Virginia, and Tennessee, and received and is in inactive status in Kentucky, Alabama, Alaska, Indiana, and Florida.

Over the course of the past 4 1/2 years in the Montana area, has been Project Manager for 34 projects in Montana, Wyoming, North and South Dakota, and Washington. The majority of these projects were involved with hydrocarbon, and include an Environmental Assessment for the Bill Barrett Corporation CBNG project on the Crow Reservation in Montana, an Environmental Impact Statement for the Golden Sunlight Mine at Whitehall, Montana, and hydrocarbon-contaminated groundwater assessments and remediation on 12 Native American Reservations.

Mr. Wilson’s current areas of practice focus on CBNG research and permitting, water resource evaluation, and NEPA analysis.  In the field of CBNG permitting, he helps clients obtain necessary data including monitor wells in order to prepare applications for permits needed to produce CBNG. 

Mr. Wilson has authored over 300 publications: prepared one to three reports involving Contamination Assessment and Remedial Action Plans at gasoline stores at 150 sites in 28 states; RCRA compliance reports; surface mining EIS documents required for surface or subsurface mining. Has made over 50 presentations at technical seminars or professional meetings.

Mr. Wilson is involved in his community. He is past president of his Rotary club, active in Habitat for Humanity for 18 years, and has been an ordained minister in the Episcopal Church for 26 years, currently assigned to St. Luke’s Church in Montana. He was the coordinator of a high-profile Habitat project in Washington DC, building two houses with the U.S. Senate. He is active in camping and backpacking, and has published four books, including three on the Civil War.
