Dave has more than 19 years of experience working throughout the western U.S. and Alaska in the fields of natural resource and environmental management, geology and hydrogeology.  He earned his undergraduate degree in geology from the University of Montana in 1980 and his M.S. in Earth Sciences (Hydrogeology) from Montana State University in 1989.  He has managed and technically directed projects that included stream channel restoration and groundwater-surface water impact investigations, nonpoint source, land use, and watershed impact projects, environmental and  water resource drilling and aquifer testing, water rights assessments, Phase I environmental site assessments for commercial real estate, groundwater modeling, natural attenuation evaluations and remediation, geophysical surveys in groundwater studies, soil gas investigations, water quality and nonpoint source pollution investigations, and source water assessment program studies.  Dave is a registered professional geologist in Wyoming.    

Dave opened the Helena office for HydroSolutions Inc in March 2007 and has focused on growing our western presence with state, federal, and private clients.  His current work includes property site assessments, geologic investigations, technical guidance in water rights issues and application preparation, water resource evaluations and vulnerability assessments, and water reuse projects.  Dave’s expertise in hydrogeology includes aquifer testing and analysis, water rights applications for individuals, ranchers, and municipalities, and underground injection control permitting. 

Dave has authored and co-authored several publications and presentations, and was an invited faculty speaker at the 2005 Montana Water Law Conference.  Dave is actively involved in the Helena Community, where he is an active member of Lewis and Clark Search and Rescue and a registered EMT-First Responder.
